Things To Do When Bored in Quarantine

Megan Jacques, Senior Staff Writer

After over 8 weeks of being away from school and being stuck at home or in quarantine, it is not uncommon for you to have run out of things to do. You’ve probably cleaned your room, gone through your things, and done other random things that have come into your head.

But mostly, you are probably just doing homework and sleeping and wondering when this is all going to be over, bored out of your mind. And that’s okay! A lot of people are doing the same thing as you are.

However, there are a lot of different things you can do to stop being bored that can be entertaining, productive, or just something to keep you busy.

One aforementioned thing that you can do, if you haven’t already, is work on cleaning up your space. Whether this means doing the laundry, washing your sheets, picking up the floor, or doing a deep clean, cleaning up your space can help you have a better piece of mind.

Continuing the cleaning your space idea, going through your belongings is another way for you to be productive. A lot of times during the year, you have a build up of papers and random things due to the fact that you don’t have the time to be able to go through it.

Now is the best time to be able to go through your things, as you have time to be able to think about the worth of the items within your possession and be able to dispose of the things you don’t need in the correct fashion.

You can involve your entire family in this effort, and do a whole house spring cleaning. Contacting your local dumpster company can be a way to support a local business while also being able to clean your house of the larger items that you would have no way to dispose of.

If your room is already clean, you can redo your room by redecorating or re-organizing. You can rearrange your room to be able to give your room a new look for a new beginning once the quarantine is over.

With the time you have, you can also create and build new decorations or furniture for your room. Now is the time to let your creativity flow!

This creativity can come from anywhere and create anything you wish. Write some poetry or a book, paint or draw, build something new, do a diy project or anything your creative mind can think of!

Another way you can be creative is learning to cook and trying out new recipes! Make it a challenge to try a new recipe every week, or just make something you have never made before.
