A fairy godmother, evil stepsisters, talking mice, and…Mr.Wilcox?

You heard that right! Math teacher Dennis Wilcox will be taking on the role of the giant in MacDuffie’s upcoming winter musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

When asked by Ms.Benedict if he would like to play the role, Wilcox was not too intent on accepting it. However, his children convinced him otherwise.

“Initially, I was like no way, I can’t do it! I was too nervous. So then I told my children and the smiles on their faces is what changed my mind,” said Wilcox.

This will be Wilcox’s first main stage production and he is feeling “incredibly nervous”.

“I’m not very much of a performer, so I am definitely feeling a little bit of stage fright,” Wilcox said.

Wilcox’s character, the giant, has no lines and appears on stage for only a couple of minutes. Although his role is “the smallest one you could possibly get” in Wilcox’s words, he will definitely stand out as the tallest character on stage.

As of now, Wilcox has only been to one rehearsal and is looking forward to being a part of MacDuffie’s winter musical, which will take place on March 1, 2, and 3.
