Varsity Volleyball Pushes Through Challenges For a Successful Season

As the fall season wraps up, the Girls’ Varsity Volleyball team is looking back on a successful season.  Sophomore Jocelyn St. Onge said that one of the goals of the team this year was to take everyone’s separate talents and combine them to create a team offense that would work. She said that each player had something special to bring to the table, so it was just a matter of putting it all together.

The season was not without its challenges, however, as the team faced several injuries. “I sprained my thumb early in the season, Maya had a finger injury, Amy got hurt, so was just a difficult season for us injury wise,” said St. Onge. Sophomore Aniis Anderson said that communication was something the team wanted to improve on, both on and off the court. Becoming more comfortable around each other outside the gym translated to trust on the court.

A defining moment of the season was earlier in the year, when the team hit a bit of a slump, losing a few games in a row. Overcoming the mental barrier of these losses was difficult for the team, but the players were able to push through and get in a rhythm. There have been many ups and downs in the season, but the captains felt that the season has been a success.
